You will own and drive commercial conversion for Volta’s structural battery technology across space and defense customers, with a clear mandate:
turn technical validation into binding commercial agreements.

This role sits at the intersection of deep-tech product, customer programs, and strategic partnerships. You will work closely with the CEO and technical leadership to structure deals, manage Tier-1 customer relationships, and coordinate multi-stakeholder engagements involving primes, platform OEMs, and strategic partners.

This is not a transactional sales role.
It is a high-ownership execution role, focused on long sales cycles, qualification-driven contracts, and platform-level adoption.

  • Manage commercial relationships with aerospace and defense customers.
  • Support the conversion of PoCs and qualification programs into commercial agreements.
  • Coordinate customer requirements with internal technical teams.
  • Support negotiations for pilot programs, demo supply, and offtake agreements.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a qualified commercial pipeline.
who you are
  • Experienced in business development or key account management in aerospace, defense, or advanced industrial sectors.
  • Comfortable working with technically complex products and long sales cycles.
  • Able to engage confidently with engineers, program managers, and decision-makers.
  • Hands-on, structured, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment
essential experience

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, key account management, or program-driven sales in aerospace, defense, space, or similarly complex industrial sectors.
  • Proven experience managing long sales cycles involving technical validation, qualification, and multi-stakeholder decision processes.
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts with engineers (battery systems, structures, aerospace platforms) without being a technical bottleneck.
  • Experience structuring and negotiating:
    • PoCs,
    • pilot programs,
    • offtake or supply agreements.

  • Experience working with Tier-1 aerospace or defense primes, satellite manufacturers, or UAV/missile system providers.
  • Familiarity with aerospace/defense procurement logic and contractual structures.
  • Prior exposure to dual-use or deep-tech startups transitioning from validation to early revenue.
  • Ability to operate effectively in small, fast-moving teams.
